With so many different pair of work trousers available on the market it’s often difficult to decide on which pair to choose from. Workwear ranges can start from £20 and go all the way up to £120, more often than not we find ourselves asking how much we really need to spend on a decent pair of work trousers.
That’s why we’ve decided to write this quick guide to the favourite pair of work trousers that we stock at Crafty Print. From heavyweight durable work trousers to slightly cheaper more affordable selections and our favourite pair of ladies’ work trousers, we’ve included some details below which highlights both their positives and negatives.
Dickies Redhawk Work Trousers
Searching for a fair priced pair of work trousers with knee pads? Then the Dickies Redhawk trousers could be for you. The only downside with these cargo style trousers is the lack of storage space as there’s not quite as many as you’ll find on similar pairs that are out there on the market. However, apart from your phone not all of us want to fill our pockets full of tools, screws and clips so if that sounds like you this is exactly why these trousers have been designed for.
A couple of pockets feature a zip, granted they’re not pockets loose, so you won’t want anything big or sharp in there, but they will certainly come in handy.
Space is available for knee pad inserts, and the main fabric of these work trousers are 65% polyester and 35% cotton, so not only do they provide a durability, they are also breathable.
The feel is slightly thicker than most work trousers on the market which means they can get a little warm in the summer. The flip side of that is they’re also designed to keep you snug throughout the colder winter months!
The Redhawk range also comes with a pair of shorts so if you are considering opting for Dickies then we’d recommend checking those out as well. Both are available to purchase direct at Crafty Print.
Snickers Ruff Work Trousers
If you’re searching for a premium range, then Snickers is the brand for you. They’ve got two pairs of high-end work trousers with knee pads; the Ruffwork and the Cooltwill.
Not only are the Ruffwork trousers slightly cheaper, aesthetically they look much more stylish, so we’ll review that pair today.
First things first, this is the best pair of lightweight work trousers that you’ll find on the market. A standard pair of work trousers will weigh in around the 950g-1.2kg range; the Snickers Ruffwork are light weight so weigh just 750g.
When considering which pair of trousers to purchase the weight actually makes no difference. Carrying an extra 200g is pretty negligible on top of whatever you’re shifting on site really doesn’t matter.
But, where is can make a difference is the extra 200g weight saving means increased breathability, which I turn makes them incredibly comfortable to wear throughout the day.
The breathability comes from the lightweight construction, but also from the back of the knee as there’s an added mesh air vent there to increase ventilation.
They are packed full of Cordura, and that means they’re one of the most durable work trousers too. But that doesn’t mean they are not flexible if you are working in tight spaces.
And, with their Advanced digital KneeGuard Pro, you know you’re not going to feel back broken when you get home after a hard day’s graft.

Regatta Lined Action Work Trousers

Not only do the work trousers comes with a water-repellent finish, they have a warm scrim lining to keep you toasty whilst he polycotton blend provides comfort and durability with the fabrics increased breathability.
With the added water repellent finish and inner scrim lining they’re a perfect pair of outdoor trousers that are designed to offer a little more protection against the elements.
The trousers are water repellent however we’d still recommend opting for a pair of waterproof over trousers if you’re planning on working in adverse weather conditions when you still have to crack on with the job in hand, even if the heavens decide to open up!

Warrior Ladies Cargo Work Trousers
With there not being much on the market in terms of ladies’ work trousers we thought we’d feature the Warrior Cargo Trousers. These trousers are designed to provide complete comfort with the side elasticated waist band and added belt loops, the front provides a standard zip flu with a button over for a secure, snug fit.
These ladies work trousers come complete with two standard side pockets, two side leg tear release deep pockets and two rear concealed button pockets.
The weight of the fabric is 245gsm so despite the fact they are breathable they can get a tad warm throughout the summers months however these ladies fit Warrior work cargo trousers are constructed from 35% cotton and 65% polyester which makes them not only durable and designed to withstand a harsh work environment, they’re also breathable and designed to keep you cool.
Available in sizes 8-30 and in both black and harbour navy.
All the work trousers reviewed provide quality and great value for money however they all offer something a little different.
If you’re searching for a good all-round pair that provide great durability, quality and comfort and you’re not as fussed about storage space then the Dickies Redhawk Trousers are for you. The added bonus is the identical shorts version they provide so if the slightly thicker fabric is a little too warm during those hot summer months then you can easily opt for the Redhawk Shorts knowing that you’ll get an identical fit.
For a more premium trouser that’s lightweight, comfortable and durable then the Snickers range could be for you, the only thing to consider is the slightly higher price tag. As durable as they may be, if you’re working with messy products such as expanding foam and silicone which we know gets absolutely everywhere, then you may need to ask yourself if you’re likely to be changing them every couple of months for a cleaner pair. If the answer is yes then this would be a big factor we’d consider before purchasing, although we think they are almost definitely worth the money.
For mucky jobs or for large volume orders when you’re looking to kit your entire workforce out without breaking the bank then the PRO RTX work trousers are for you. They provide great quality and are one of the cheapest pairs available on the market. Durable, breathable with plenty of room for storage they tick al the boxes and at a fraction of the price when compared to some other trousers on the market.
Finally, for women’s work trousers our favourite is the Warrior Cargo Pants, just like the PRO RTX they tick all the boxes. Comfortable, secure, durable and with a quality feel they’re the best all round pair of cargo style trousers we’ve reviewed. It’s a shame there isn’t more of a selection available in terms of the women’s workwear range however with the ladies Warrior trouser range, it doesn’t seem to matter as they could be the only pair you’ll need.
As with any review these are findings, we’ve based of our own teams’ personal experiences. With so much variety on the market and with so many individual preferences it can be hard to identify garments we like (especially when shopping online) but we hope this has provided a little more information for you on what’s available.
